TAV (Tape Art València), is the pioneering collective of Tape Art in Spain both at a work level and at an information and communication level. Three rebel artists, Alicia Cambra –illustrator and interior designer–, Álvaro Navarro –architect–, and José Miguel Piquer –publicist– decided to join in February 2012 for the opening of the co-working space Botánico Creativo, with a common and exceptional project: “Amor de meteorito” (“Meteorite love”). The success of that first intervention got them works in different museums, fairs and, expositions, as well as different recognitions: on 2012, the Adidas brand turn them in winners of the “All Originals” competition that the mentioned brand carried out at a national level.

The artistic action of this collective that will take place on 24 October at the Cultural Centre La Nau is framed within the programming for the promotion of the contemporary art  València Intramurs. An interdisciplinary festival that develops within the area that the old walls of Valencia embraced, in which a group of professionals formed by artists, designers, managers, and art theorists want to carry out this great experience in contact with the associations, institutions and business of this central zone with the intent of invigorating it culturally, professionally and commercially.

Tape art is a new way of Street art that aims to catch the attention of the people through a new and surprising urban culture. It consists of the creation of different drawings of all type, shape and colour, taking as a canvas façades and walls, abandoned buildings, metro and bus stations or any other public space. The tape is manipulated to form the expressive lines of the drawing.

The peculiarity of this new tendency is that the tape replaces the paintbrush of the painting or the spray of the graffiti, as instrument for the visualisation of creativity and this generates a completely different and innovative result.

The first drawings of tape art were created by spontaneous groups, on the ground, in the frenzy of activity during a night back in 1989 in United States. Since 1993 it has spread and an exploration on all the infinite possibilities of TAPE ART for the transformation of spaces, both public and private, has started. In Europe it was boosted since a few years ago and recently it has come to Spain driven by collectives and independent artists.

The street art work that we present for INTRAMURS 2015 at the claustrum of the Cultural Centre La Nau of Valencia, and that is titled ClaustroFobía, is a metaphoric visualisation of the mental limitations that stop us from freeing up our potential and living a life full of colour. It is an intervention projected, designed and created exclusively for this event.
